Description

"IC 2177, also known as the Seagull or Eagle Nebula, is a large 120 x 40 arc minute area of emission nebulosity located on the border between Monoceros and Canis Major, about 7.5 degrees northeast of Sirius, 11 degrees below the celestial equator. The catalogue number IC 2177 designates only the area of seagull's wings. The "head" of the bird, NGC 2327, is the brightest portion of the nebula complex, it surrounds an 8th magnitude star and also includes some blue reflection nebulosity. A dark nebula's lane protrudes into NGC 2327 from the eastern side towards the star. Several open star clusters are also involved in this area of nebulosity, the most prominent being NGC 2335, located on the northern "wing" of the Seagull figure. This is a short project and therefore more data will surely be added later, this area deserves to be duly completed in more detail.

On the other hand, it is a region that presents several relatively close astronomical objects interacting at the same time: star clusters, reflection nebula, dust clouds, dark nebula,  lanes, etc.

A stack was first made in AHD in DSS and extraction of Ha and [OIII] was carried out separately in Siril. In this opportunity, the green synthetic channel was made with 50% Ha and [OIII].

The Siril Transformation Histogram was used for the Ha and [OIII] obtained as well as the synthetic green channel. A starless image was made once the channels were combined in which the usual workflow was worked with fewer steps and in a Ps Camera Raw.
Hubble palette colorization was applied.

To the final image obtained, the initial image worked in DSS of the AHD stack was added, made at 25%, giving it a less orange hue and contrast in the Ha gases area.

Although the FOV of our telescope covers the most important part of this region, it inevitably ends up cutting off the rear end zone and the end of the 'east' wing.

I think that a telescope with a 600mm focal length would perfectly cover the entire area of ​​the nebula without cutting it.
